Business Development/Partnership

The goal of our business development efforts is to identify and acquire products and technologies, including drugs, devices, and drug/device combinations, at any stage in their life cycle. Consistent with our mission to advance critical care, we prefer products that involve a high acuity of care for patients who are seriously ill. Our expertise in preclinical development, clinical development and product commercialization and marketing makes us an ideal partner for both small and large companies. The Ikaria management team combines vast experience in the pharmaceutical and drug device industry with accomplished leadership, development expertise, and commercialization capabilities.

Clinical Research

Our clinical research program is focused on critical care products in the areas of ischemia/reperfusion injury, cardiovascular and pulmonary medicine and surgery, transplantation, and neonatology. Ikaria has significant capabilities in pharmacology, pre-clinical development, and clinical development across all phases. For more information on our current research projects, please click here.

Sales and Marketing

Ikaria has a sales and marketing organization made up of professionals from large pharmaceutical companies and experts in clinical care of patients. The experience and expertise of our team allows Ikaria to constantly meet customer needs, enable growth, and execute upon partnership opportunities through product launch and distribution capabilities.

Distribution

Our lead product, INOmax® (nitric oxide) for inhalation, comes in heavy cylinders and must be paired with a drug delivery device. The complexities of the INOmax product offering require us to bypass normal drug distribution channels and develop our own distribution network. With eight Regional Service Centers throughout the United States and dozens of employees performing deliveries, device maintenance services, and other critical tasks, we are capable of meeting customer needs around the USA and in Canada. To support our overseas business we work with local partners who maintain the same high level of competence and customer service enjoyed by our US and Canadian customers. In addition to being an internal strength that meets customer needs, our distribution network is available to business partners whose distribution needs fall outside normal drug distribution capabilities.

Manufacturing

Ikaria is the only company to commercially develop an FDA-approved drug in gas form. The manufacture of a pharmaceutical gas requires specialized equipment and expertise that is virtually unknown in the pharmaceutical industry. Ikaria has a team of managers, technicians, and quality assurance personnel that excel at the production of unique pharmaceutical products. Device Development

Ikaria has a special focus on drug/device combinations. Both our marketed product INOmax® (nitric oxide) for inhalation and our development stage product Covox® (carbon monoxide) for inhalation require the use of specialized drug delivery devices for proper drug administration. Our Madison, WI-based manufacturing team has the expertise and experience to develop high-quality, easy to use devices that ensure proper patient care and customer satisfaction. An Ikaria core competency is the development and commercialization of drug delivery devices and drug/device combinations that support clinical applications and commercial success.

Global Partnership

In an effort to make our products available to meet the clinical needs of patients globally and to support the growth of our business, Ikaria has established partnerships with companies around the world. While we directly manage the Ikaria business in the US and Canada, we are partnering with peer organizations in Mexico, South America, Australia, Japan, and Europe to fulfill our mission of meeting unmet medical needs and supporting the growth of our business.

Research & Development

Research and Development is more than just a core competency of INO Therapeutics; we consider it an obligation to our customers in the medical community as well as to their patients. INO Therapeutics was willing to undertake the significant challenges and complexities of bringing INOmax® (nitric oxide) for inhalation, a gaseous pharmaceutical through the development process and is committed to investigate its role in treatment of an increasing number of potential disease states. From our pre-clinical discovery and development program in Seattle, our Madison-based device development team, to our New Jersey-based clinical development team, Ikaria is aggressively pursuing the development of new critical care products across the spectrum of drugs, devices, and drug/device combinations.
